Fabien Foret and Sam Lowes scored a SHARK 2-3 on the podium in the World Supersport class at Misano. Foret got a bad start off the second row and by the end of the first lap had dropped to 11th place. Moving his way back up through the pack, Foret managed to finish an impressive second place just 1.933 seconds behind the eventual race winner.

Riding at near full-fitness after breaking his collarbone earlier in the season, Sam Lowes took his first ever World Supersport pole position during qualifying for Sunday. After making some mistakes in the early stages of the race, the young SHARK-rider made his way back up the pack to cross the line in third place, scoring his second podium of the year.

Qualifying in pole position for Sunday’s Superbike race, SHARK-protected Tom Sykes narrowly missed out on a podium finish. Sykes came home behind Marco Melandri in fourth place in race one. Race two, he finished just outside the top ten in 14th position.

The MotoGP championship continued from the famous British Silverstone circuit in difficult wet conditions. Stefan Bradl won his fourth Moto2 race of the year. Leading from the start Bradl won the race by 7.6 seconds which has extended his overall lead by 62 points.

Young Brit Scott Redding took the wet conditions at Silverstone in his stride to mount a superb fight for a podium finish during his home GP. On a cold wet track Redding made a brilliant start from second on the grid and took no time in passing fellow SHARK-supported Bradl, seizing the lead on the opening lap. Although an impressive performance Redding struggled to keep his pace during the race and dropped to fifth, securing his best result of the 2011 season.

In the 125cc class Johann Zarco continued his successful 2011 season scoring another podium finish in second place. Fellow SHARK-supported Efren Vazquez finished fifth.

Fabien Foret, World Supersport – second: “I came from 11th on lap one. We made a little change in set-up for the race and it was great, I really had fun. In the first corner I lost some places and another rider pushed me off track at turn four. I knew then I just had to stay calm and work my way back into it. I was feeling very comfortable, but I lost some time to overtake some guys because it is not that easy at this track. I did not want to take too much risk because the start of my season was not really good I do not have any more jokers in my pack. I am really happy with the second place given what happened at the start, but I think this could have been my weekend.”

Sam Lowes, World Supersport – third: « I didn’t make the best start and the riders around me were going very well. When I did get stuck in, everyone else was on the pace so it was hard to make passes. I made a few mistakes and couldn’t close down Broc or Fabien. Anyway, I am happy with third; I am back on to the podium and now I can move forward from here. »

Stefan Bradl, Moto2: winner: “That was such a tough race in really difficult conditions. I always prefer a dry race, so to win today is really great for us. I focused on myself and my own race and didn’t care what the others were doing. The difficult part was to stay concentrated for the whole race. Things are going well for us, but we still have a long way to go and we will continue working in the same way.”

Scott Redding, Moto2: fifth: « It would have been great to score a podium in my home race but I’m not too disappointed because we need to be collecting points after the difficult start to the season. I made a great start and felt really comfortable, so quickly passed Stefan. Conditions were really tricky and at about half distance I started having a problem with my visor steaming up, and then I lost edge grip on the rear tyre. Once I was behind somebody else it was quite difficult to see. The spray was bad enough but the visor made it a little bit tricky. I adapted quickly but I was pushing to keep myself in the fight for a podium and I had a couple of moments, so decided it was best not to throw away a top five. It is easily my best result of the season and fighting for the podium like today is where we need to be now for the rest of the season. »
